Chemists with Chronic Illnesses & Disabilities Seminar Series

Aim: The Chemists with Chronic Illnesses & Disabilities seminar will be a recurring seminar where speakers will describe their journey with visible and invisible illnesses and disabilities. This will be followed by a roundtable discussion for all interested. Funds from this grant will support gifts of gratitude for our speakers.

Assessing Success: After each Chemists with Chronic Illnesses & Disabilities seminar, the seminar speaker and participants will be provided with a link to a Google Form where they can provide feedback and suggest topics or speakers for future seminars.

Science Kits for Kids

 

Event: Demo kits were distributed to En Nuestra Lengua for their Feria de Ciencias event on 3/18/2023. We plan to make and distribute more kits in the future!

Aim: Provide training and materials needed to do science demonstrations with students, keeping the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in mind.

​

We will develop protocols for science demonstrations for a range of ages, and pack kits with all materials needed. These kits and protocols will be distributed to teachers or volunteers in need of materials. We will offer an in-person training to give teachers/volunteers practice with these demonstrations. 

​

Assessing Success: The success of the training and supplies provided to the teachers during the workshop will be determined through anonymous surveys immediately following the training and at the end of the school year.
